Express Entry is an online system that is used by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. Express Entry encompasses three Canadian immigration programs:
•Federal Skilled Worker Program
•Federal Skilled Trades Program
•Canadian Experience Class
Certain Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) also have an Express Entry element. So, if you get a provincial nomination then you are able to include the respective approval on your Express
In order to confirm your eligibility, answer a few questions to see if you meet the minimum requirements and read the detailed requirements for each program.
Once you confirm your eligibility for the Express Entry program, you can create a profile or speak to a Canadian Immigration Lawyer. You have up to 60 days to complete the online profile and upload the required documents. Your profile contains your personal information and skills that contribute to your score in the point-based Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The profile will help the IRCC determine if you meet Canada’s Express Entry requirements. If you’re eligible, then you will be accepted into the pool where you will be ranked according to your CRS score. You will then wait in the pool until you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
The CRS gives you a score based on the information in your profile, including:
-language test results
How to increase your points for Express Entry:
-having Canadian degrees, diplomas or certificates
-a valid job offer(s)
-a nomination from a province or territory
Some documents take a long time to get, so you should get them ready ahead of time.
If you’re eligible, you will be accepted into the Express Entry pool of candidates where you’ll be ranked using a points-based system. Your score is based on the information provided in your profile.
Express Entry Processing Time
If you are eligible for Express Entry, your application can stay in the pool for up to 12 months depending on your CRS score and the government’s objective during the respective draws. If the IRCC invites you to apply, then you will have 60 days to submit an online application for permanent residency.
The IRCC processes your application for permanent residency within 6 months. If you do not receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) within 12 months, then you may have to update your profile and re-enter the pool.
Invitations to apply are sent to the candidates with the highest scores in the pool and if you are invited to apply, you’ll have 60 days to submit your application for permanent residence. Applications with complete information and supporting documents are processed by IRCC in 6 months or less.
